WHY COMPLICATE

Hi munchkins! Last week a collegue of mine went for a seminar on corporate etiquette. He shared the reading material with me and I am surprisd at how elucidated the matter is. I don't know if these are pratically used but they're certainly being preached. There are prohibitions on usage of the 1st name while addressing someone, unless being permitted to do so. Its regarded humiliating. I mean hello? How can your name sound insulting.

Another 1 says, when you introduce somebody, the 'rule' per se is that the higher ranked person should be addressed 1st followed by the lower ranked. Also, if your calling 1 of them by their last name, like Mr X & the other by his 1st, like Joe then just make sure you've got their hierarchies right. I say, "How does it matter? Ego boosting complicated fodder!"

The others are quite basic, like suitably dressing, being punctual, greeting well, etc. As a fresher, I ask, why do we need to know these manners? I mean can't people just be respected for their skill and true self? Is it all just about presentation and illusion ?

May be this is 1 of the reasons people are more stressed because they are maintaining their job work as well as 'behavioral'.
