It really amazes me how people lie and expect or rather assume that the others won't get it. You know most of the people around us are deceptive when it comes to buying a story. What I mean is they are smarter than your estimation. For example, on meeting a person raving about coachella, one jumps in to add how much you enjoy and relish indulging in tote bags! actually a more apt example would be claiming to be a single malt lover, when the world knows you don't go beyond red bull at any social event. What I rather don't get is the need for people to put on a pretense for 'fitting in' a group of friends or colleagues.
I have often noticed how people with so-called average backgrounds have really wealthy friends or contacts as one calls it. Because wealth or similar habits is not the deal cracker, when one chooses friends. It is sheer honesty and a connect that makes you like or dislike a person.
May be my opinion is amateurish but I definitely get turned off by a fake, 'want to be you', sugar coated people. In fact I feel sorry for the breed because there is a clear sense of insecurity in their minds about themselves. Chill people, breathe. We are not here to find our soul mates in the world. Sit back, enjoy your caffeine and just be you.
Similarly when it comes to dressing up, you often see some women that have reached a 'middle age' mode in their lives, suddenly getting OTT and wanting to showcase their youth! I mean sorry for being too rude, but aging beautifully is also a skill. What happened to elegance and grace? Insecurity is the evil I guess in both instances, until one feels confident about oneself, they keep trying ways and means to 'fit in', 'get noticed' or do all those things that according to them will get them accepted.
Pamper and cherish oneself for the way we are. It is enough if you can please yourself, rather than a group of people that anyways thinks your best kept at a distance.
